Michael Carter - Vice President/Secretary, Chair, Membership
Michael is President/Executive Producer, theskonkworks incorporated.
He has spent the last 14 years immersed in the creative, technical and business of animation production. Since graduating from Sheridan College’s Computer Animation Program in the mid 1990’s, he has held a number of progressive positions both locally and internationally, that propelled him to the role of Executive Producer for Calibre Digital Pictures, on the CGI/Live Action series’ Ace Lightning II (BBC Worldwide/Alliance Atlantis) and Shoebox Zoo I (BBC Scotland/Blueprint Entertainment) as well as the Stop Motion series Henry’s World II (Alliance Atlantis). Recently, Michael oversaw the series animation servicing of Handy Manny I & II (Nelvana/Disney Playhouse), and Will & Dewitt (Cookie Jar/KidsWB!) as well as feature development projects for Create Media Ventures/Goodstory Productions in the UK.
Michael’s international experience and ability to see beyond current trends, has led him to recognize the new realities of the global animation market and the need for innovative Children’s Programming.†
As Membership Chair for the 2008 CASO Board, Michael helped to expand CASO’s reach locally and internationally. Focusing on balancing the representation of CASO members and drawing upon the commonalities which makes this industry the backbone of the Ontario economy.
Michael states, “It would be my goal to continue to work diligently and for the common goal of all members through personal, governmental and international interaction, to make our members and this industry the best place to do Film or Broadcast production in North America.”
